Jasprit Bumrah: The Board of Control for cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday, October 2 that Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 which is starting from October 16 in Australia. Bumrah was ruled out due to his back injury.
The cricket board said it would announce a replacement for the Indian premier pacer Bumrah sooner. Bumrah was ruled out of a 3-match series against South Africa in September-October due to his back injury between the ongoing series. However, head coach of team India Rahul Dravid said on Saturday, October 1 that the team management was hopeful that the premier fast bowler would recover in time. Dravid refused to go into the details of the back injury.

BCCI official issued a release
Bumrah had gone to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after having been part of India’s squad for the first T20I against South Africa. The star player is the second senior player to be ruled out of the World Cup squad after Ravindra Jadeja, who is recovering from his knee injury. BCCI official said in a release, “The decision was taken following a detailed judgment and in consultation with the specialists.”
Bumrah was not a part of Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE due to a back injury. The BCCI took a precautionary call and rested Jasprit Bumrah from the Asian tournament. Mohammed Siraj replaced him in the ongoing series against South Africa.
