Jasprit Bumrah: The injury of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, appears to be worse than initially thought, and his recovery could take longer than expected. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to begin in just over a month and run through April and May, the star bowler’s participation is presently in doubt. In fact, if India qualifies for the World Test Championship (WTC) final in the UK in June, there is a possibility that he may not be fit enough to play.
Jasprit Bumrah’s return remains uncertain
Bumrah has been absent from international competition for more than five months, and sources close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL have suggested that he is currently feeling unwell and may require an extended break.
Jasprit Bumrah’s return to international cricket remains uncertain as sources suggest that the Indian squad may focus on preparing him for the World Cup in October-November instead of the Asia Cup, wherever it takes place. Bumrah, who last played for India on September 25, is still recovering from an injury that has kept him out of competition for over five months.
Although the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru has not cleared him for the upcoming ODI matches against Australia in March, there is no pressure on him to make a rushed comeback. Initially, it was thought that the workload management plan would allow Jasprit Bumrah to participate in the upcoming IPL, as he would only be bowling four overs per game.
BCCI and NCA working on management
However, it appears that his injury is more serious than anticipated, and now the BCCI, NCA, and Indian team management are working on a carefully structured plan for his return. This plan is expected to take longer than previously thought.
