The former captain of India praised Rohit Sharma and wished that he had maintained his composure in the face of a difficult defeat. “Rohit, you are a master at what you do. You have a lot of success awaiting you. It’s tough I know but keep your spirits up. India is with you,” Kapil Dev further added in his Instagram story.

In a low-scoring World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Australia defeated India by six wickets to win a record-tying sixth World Cup.
