KL Rahul has been one of the most consistent and versatile players for the Indian team in the past few years. And according to Ashwin, he has filled the hole that was left after the departure of MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.
Locked For Asia Cup 2023
According to Ashwin, KL Rahul should be the definitive number 5 for India in Asia Cup 2023. Ashwin stated on his YouTube channel that India was struggling to find a middle-order batsman after Dhoni and Yuvraj.
He further said that Rahul has finally fulfilled that position brilliantly. The off-spinner also thinks that the wicket-keeper batsman should be locked up for India’s No.5 position. And thinks he can be a game-changer for the team.
He is hopeful that Rahul will recover the niggle and will be available for Asia Cup 2023. If not, then 18 men will travel to Sri Lanka with Sanju Samson on the side.
Fit For ODI World Cup 2023
KL Rahul has recovered from his back injury but suffered a niggle after that. He will be fit again very soon but will miss a few matches of the upcoming tournament. The good news is that he will be completely fit and available for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
It is good news as he provides the team stability in the middle. With him and Shreyas Iyer returning, the Indian team is looking far stronger.
