KL Rahul: In Wednesday’s T20 World Cup match between India and Bangladesh at the Adelaide oval, KL Rahul returned to form in glorious way. With only 22 runs scored in the tournament’s first three games, the opener had a difficult time scoring runs coming into the decisive match. At Adelaide, however, he was in a different mode as demonstrated by his 50 off just 32 balls.
Even though Rahul was dismissed right after reaching his half-century, his crucial half-century helped India bounce back from the early setback when Rohit Sharma was dismissed in the fourth over after scoring only two runs. Rahul’s blazing innings included three fours and four sixes.
Rahul took some time to get going after India was allowed to bat first in the cloudy Adelaide weather. He only managed to score two runs in the first nine balls he faced, including a no-ball, but he picked up the pace later on by hitting a six over deep square off Shoriful Islam in the second over.
Rahul and Virat Kohli added 67 runs to their partnership for the second wicket, and Rahul eventually reached his fifty in the tenth over. On the following ball from Mustafizur Rehman, he was out, top-edging the lap shot to the fine-leg fielder.
