On Wednesday, the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Commonwealth Games-bound athletes virtually to inspire the Indian contingent before they compete in Birmingham.
“Play well with all your strengths, without stress. You must have heard the saying ‘Koi Nahi Hai Takkar mei, Kyun Pade Ho Chakkar Mei’, so play with the same attitude at the Commonwealth Games,” PM Modi told India’s CWG 2022 squad.
The Prime minister came live on Twitter and wished all 215 players who will be representing India in the upcoming Commonwealth games 2022.
“It would have been happier if I could have met each one of you face-to-face, but since you are all in various corners of the globe and I am busy with Parliamentary affairs, it would be impossible. However, I promise that when you all return, we will meet and celebrate your wins,” the Prime Minister said.
“Our Commonwealth team is very special in its own ways. We have the perfect mix of experience and energy,” he added.

Exuding happiness the PM said that young stars like 14-year-old Anahat Singh (squash), and Shafali Verma, 18-year-old (Women’s cricket) and some others are representing their nation on a big stage at such a young age.
“Young stars such as Anahat, and Shafali represent the New India, proving that every corner of India is filled with sports personalities and talents.”
“For those entering first, the field has changed, the mood has changed but your will has not changed. Your aim is still the same, and that is to see the tri-colour flag flying high. No need to take any pressure. Just go out, perform and leave your footprints there,” Modi assured the athletes.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had named a total of 322 members for the forthcoming edition of the Commonwealth Games (CWG 2022) in Birmingham. The team includes 215 athletes and 107 support staff and officials.
The CWG 2022 is scheduled for July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
