Lionel Messi: Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo shocked football supporters all over the world with a surprising move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on an agreement reported to be worth more than 200 million euros. Following a contentious interview with presenter Piers Morgan in which the 37-year-old criticised the club’s leadership and manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United terminated the player’s contract.

Lionel Messi to join Al-Hilal?

Any further Champions League matches between Lionel Messi, who is presently playing for PSG, and Cristiano Ronaldo were put to rest as a result of this draw. Despite the fact that on January 19 they will play a friendly match against a Saudi all-star XI made up of players from Al-Hilal and Al Nassr as part of PSG’s midseason visit.

The 35-year-old may now join Al Hilal, the major rival of Al Nassr, who are apparently willing to pay him a massive salary of at least 279 million euros year. Additionally, Messi’s role as the Saudi ambassador for tourism may be of use to Al Hilal in their discussions to acquire the Argentina captain. Furthermore, his contract with PSG is scheduled to end in the summer.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup was won in Qatar last year by the former Barcelona captain, who defeated France on penalties to secure the victory. In sharp contrast to Ronaldo, who sat out of his team’s Round of 16 and Quarter-Final games, he also won the Golden Ball trophy for his achievements in Qatar.

Lionel Messi vs Ronaldo on cards

Messi scored in his first game back for PSG against Angers, closing off a team effort and a 2-0 victory. Hugo Ekitike scored the first goal in Paris in the fifth minute before Lionel Messi’s strike in the 72nd minute. Messi joining Al Hilal might have a significant economic impact on the team and Saudi football in general. Additionally, a hypothetical Messi vs. Ronaldo matchup may result in record attendance for Al Hilal’s game against Al Nassr.
