Lionel Messi: When it comes to the FIFA World Cup 2022, Lionel Messi had a stellar run. Argentina’s captain led his team to a third trophy with great success. For putting on a fantastic performance in Qatar, Messi was also given the Golden Ball. For the ‘Bisht’ he wore at the Lusail Stadium’s post-match presentation ceremony, the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker has now received a $1 million bid. Attorney and Omani parliamentarian Ahmed Al Barwani has put forth a proposal to let the illustrious bisht stay in the region.
Al Barwani made the bid on Twitter
Taking to Twitter, Al Barwani wrote “From the Sultanate of Oman, I congratulate you for winning the World Cup Qatar 2022. The Arabic Bisht is a symbol of chivalry and wisdom. I’m offering you a million dollars (£829,000) in return for that Bisht.”
Al Barwani admitted that he wants the bisht back while watching the FIFA World Cup 2022 final at the Lusail Stadium. He admitted to that he wants to show the piece to remember a time when he felt particularly proud.
Lionel Messi was given Bisht during post-match ceremony
Following the Argentina vs. France FIFA World Cup championship game, the Emir of Qatar covered Messi in the customary black cloak known as the bisht. However, the fact that the cloak covered Argentina’s jersey while Messi was hoisting the World Cup trophy has drawn harsh criticism from many.
At the World Cup in Qatar, Messi stood out as Argentina’s best player, contributing to three goals and seven himself. Messi received his second Golden Ball trophy as a result of the electrifying performance. By winning the Golden Ball on two separate occasions, the 35-year-old football player made tournament history. Ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Messi won his first Golden Ball.
