Lionel Messi: The seven-time Balon D’or winner dearly loves his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and it has been shown numerous amounts of times. The couple has been together since childhood and no one has ever separated them.
We have even seen so many pictures where Lionel Messi does not even touch other girls. The pair are always together and the Argentine is a family man. For him, the family is above everything else.
We saw that during his transfer to Inter Miami, he did that because of his family. But long before that, an incident happened during the 2021 Balon D’or ceremony, where the Argentine defended his wife’s honor in front of everyone and the internet melted down.
Lionel Messi The Protector
The incident happened before the award ceremony and during the red carpet walk. Messi, just like always was at the event with his wife and his three kids. He is a true family man after all.
During the picture ceremony, France’s Football director told Antonella to stand aside to take pictures of Messi with his kids alone. Antonella was leaving but Lionel Messi stopped her and made sure she stayed by her side.
Messi was not happy with the gesture and did not want her wife to leave the stage. He told his wife to remain there only and all the pictures were taken of the full family. Antonella has been with Messi for all his Balon D’or ceremonies.
Eighth Balon D’or In Sight?
Lionel Messi is on the verge of winning his eighth Balon D’or. He is the frontrunner for the award alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. After winning the FIFA World Cup, the Argentine has been the most deserving candidate for the award.
