LSG vs DC IPL 2023: On Saturday, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by a thundering 50-run margin in the third match of the IPL 2023 at the Ekana Sports Center. LSG batted first and amassed a massive 193/6 in 20 overs, owing to a superb knock from Kyle Mayers, who smashed 72 off 42 balls on his IPL debut. The West Indian all-rounder hammered four fours and six sixes and had a crucial 63-run stand for the second wicket with Marcus Stoinis.

LSG’s skipper, KL Rahul, was bowled for 8 by Chetan Sakariya for the fourth time in as many innings. Sakariya bowled a slower-length ball on the leg side for DC after being traded from the Rajasthan Royals, and Rahul blasted it in the air to be caught by Axar Patel at deep backward square. Mayers, on the other hand, took command of the innings and easily overpowered the DC spinners. He hammered Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel for four sixes in two overs and scored fifty in the ninth over with a six over long-on off Kuldeep. Mayers was captured by Rovman Powell after attempting to duplicate the shot and falling for 51. Stoinis also left in the 12th over for 37 off 28 balls, leaving LSG at 90/4.
DC poor performance reduced their chance
DC never got off to a good start since they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Mark Wood, Jaydev Unadkat, and Ravi Bishnoi hit early punches, reducing them to 43/4 in the eighth over. Mitchell Marsh and Rilee Rossouw attempted to reignite the pursuit with a 54-run fifth-wicket stand, but it was too little, too late. Marsh scored 36 off 29 balls before being run out by Ayush Badoni’s direct hit. Rossouw led the way with 41 off 35 balls, but he was caught at deep midwicket off Wood in the 16th over.
