LSG vs GT IPL 2023: The Gujarat Titans struggled to perform well at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, as their top players failed to deliver against a disciplined Lucknow Super Giants team. When batting first on a slow and dry track, they could only manage a below-average score of 135. Their difficulties continued when KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers made a strong start in the second innings, reaching 53/0 by the end of the powerplay, with the help of a massive 16-run over against Rashid Khan, who is widely regarded as the best T20 spinner in the world. However, captain Hardik Pandya showed faith in the Afghan player and gave him another chance to prove himself by bowling in the seventh over. This decision proved to be a game-changer.
Rashid’s class at display
At the start of his over, Rashid made a poor delivery that Mayers could only hit for a single. However, the next ball was a googly that led to the opener retain the strike. Mayers had been in good form, having scored 24 runs off 18 balls and was expected to continue his impressive performance. Unfortunately for him, Rashid had other plans. He bowled a slightly full delivery on off-stump, which made Mayers attempt a big shot, thinking that it was a wrong’un. However, Rashid had cleverly deceived him with a leg-spinner on the second ball, causing the ball to hit the stumps between Mayers’ bat and pad.
After taking the wicket, Rashid was visibly pumped up and expressed his emotions by staring intensely at Mayers as he walked back to the pavilion. He then pointed at himself to show the crowd and the Lucknow batters that he was the star of the show. R
