LSG vs PBKS IPL 2023: In the 21st match of the Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings has defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 2 wickets at the latter’s home ground Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Sam Curran was the temporary captain today as Shikhar Dhawan was out due to a shoulder injury. He won the toss and opted to field first. Rightly so, his bowlers did a good job as they restricted LSG to 159/8 in 20 overs. KL Rahul led the charge with 74 runs. In response, PBKS did not have a smooth chase but managed to score the target with 4 balls to spare. They have also become the first team to defeat LSG at home.

Sikandar Raza takes team victory

Coming to chase a relatively easy target of 160, PBKS were left in a tough situation after they lost opener Taide (0 off 3) and Prabhsimran Singh (4 off 4) at the start of the inning itself. Matthew Short stabilised the inning with 34 runs off 22 balls. Harpreet Singh Bhatia, who came to play in the IPL after 10 years, scored valuable 22 runs off 22 balls.

Sikandar Raza showed resistance and scored 57 runs off 41 balls. However, it was another batting failure for Sam Curran, as he was dismissed for 6 runs off 6 balls. Shah Rukh Khan scored a valiant 23* off 10 in the end and took his team across the victory line. Debutant Yudhvir, Mark Wood, and Ravi Bishnoi grabbed a couple of wickets while Gowtham, and Pandya, picked a wicket each as well.

KL Rahul leads from front

Earlier, Sam Curran led Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. LSG batters failed to recapitalise the moment and score big runs as they could muster just 159/8 in 20 overs at their home ground. Opener and Captain KL Rahul was the highest scorer with 74 runs in 56 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and a maximum.

K Mayers scored 29 off 23 balls, while Deepak Hooda could score just 2 of 3 balls. Krunal Pandya showed some fight and scored 18 runs in 17 balls. Meanwhile, the hero of the last match, Nicholas Pooran was dismissed for a duck. Stoinis, in the end, scored valuable 15 runs off 11 balls. It is fair to say that the LSG Batters failed collectively, and were saved by KL Rahul alone. Skipper Sam Curran grabbed a three-wicket haul while Rabada picked a couple of wickets as well. Harpreet Brar, Raza, and Arshdeep managed to pick a wicket each as well.
