Asian Games 2023: Former Indian batting great VVS Laxman has been appointed as the new head coach for the Indian team. The position is not permanent as Laxman will only be in charge of the upcoming Asian Games.

With the ODI World Cup 2023 and Asian Games 2023 falling on the same dates, it has been hectic for cricket boards. All the cricket boards had to make separate teams that would go and participate in both competitions.

BCCI has already announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asian Games which will be led by Rutuaj Gaikwad. And with head coach Rahul Dravid leading the team in the World Cup, we also needed a new head coach.

New Management For Asian Games 2023

It is not just VVS Laxman but the whole management and coaching staff will be new for the upcoming competition. Former Indian leg spinner, Sairaj Bahutule will be the bowling coach while Munish Bali will take over the fielding duties.

VVS Laxman has been looking after the National Cricket Academy for a while now and has worked with various Indian players. He was personally working on the recovery of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant till now.

It is also rumored that he will apply for the Indian head coach position once Rahul Dravid’s tenure is over. Which will be right after the end of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Long Wait For Women’s Team

Indian women’s team will travel to China with their old management and coaching staff. BCCI has postponed the appointment of a new coach till the new International season starts in December.

Kanitkar will be the head coach for the Women’s team while Rajib Dutta will be the bowling coach. Subhadeep Ghosh will be looking over the fielding duties.
