Manish Pandey: The Indian veteran player has been in top form in the ongoing Maharaja Trophy 2023. He is the skipper of Hubli Tigers and has performed in every match of the tournament so far.
He was once again in the limelight for his brilliant performance in the finals of the tournament. Not only did he score a brilliant half-century to lead his team to a big total, but he also saved a sure six in the dying moments of the match to save his team.
The save shows what a brilliant athlete Manish Pandey really is and why he is considered one of the best fielders in the game. The save helped his team win the final and the video went viral on the Internet.
Sensational Save
The save came in the last over of the match as Mysore Warriors were chasing a target of 204 runs. With 11 runs needed in 4 deliveries, J Suchith hit a brilliant aerial shot that looked like a six for sure.
It would have been a six but Pandey was not going to let that happen. With everything on-line, the skipper jumped in the air and caught the ball while falling backward. And before touching the ground he threw the ball back into the field.
He saved four runs for his team and because of that Hubli Tigers won the competition by 8 runs.
Brilliant Half Century
While batting first, the Tigers scored 203 runs with half-centuries from Mohammed Taha and Manish Pandey. Taha made 72 runs in 40 deliveries while the skipper made unbeaten 50 runs in just 23 deliveries. This sensational inning by the skipper included three boundaries and four huge sixes.
