Manoj Tiwary: Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has finally decided to hang up his boots. Finally, a very long and illustrious domestic cricket career has ended. A career that will always be marked as a missed opportunity.
The Indian international was among the most unlucky players who did not get many consistent chances at the top level. Even after making his debut in 2008, he only played a handful of matches for the Indian team.
He last played for India back in 2015 against Zimbabwe. In just 12 innings at the biggest stage, Tiwary has one century and one half-century to his name. The average of 26.09 is misleading, as he performed very well in the blue colors.
A Consistent Career
Manoj Tiwary announced his retirement on his Twitter account. He posted a picture of him in Indian colors, and the caption read, “Thank You.” The youth sports minister of Bengal has been a consistent performer in his career.
He has had some monstrous IPL seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders and Rising Pune Supergiants. Who can forget that one over in the finals of IPL, where he led his team to victory in the final moments?
In the domestic circuit, he is a legend for Bengal cricket. He has played 141 first-class matches, 169 List A matches. and 183 T20 matches for the state. He has scored 9908 runs in the domestic circuit with 29 centuries.
Will Eye Olympic Qualification
The Bengal cricketer showed his desire to shoot once he was done with cricket. He further added that he would try his hand at the 10m Air Rifle and will try to make it to the Olympics.
“You might see me taking up 10m (Air) Rifle shooting [once I have retired] and have a go at the Olympics as well. It’s something which I want to do.” He stated in an interview on a Youtube show Cow Corner Chronicles.
