A source has revealed that there was an attempt at match fixing during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 which has been taken care off smoothly.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has been a tough blow for the cricketing board so far. ICC not only had to make a stadium from scratch to host a tournament, but they also had to manage far more teams than usual.

There were enough problems that the ICC had to deal with during the tournament. To think that they would have to deal with the incidents of corruption and match-fixing as well as a different kind of headache.

According to ICC, there was a potential try at match-fixing when a former Kenya international approached a Uganda player. The authorities were timely informed and they took action as soon as possible.

Swift Action By Authorities

The approached player informed the authorities immediately and we have to give credit to him. It was the right and the brave call. Following the ICC’s strict anti-corruption protocol, a red flag has been raised against the former Kenya player in all the associate teams.

A source from ICC stated “It is not a surprise that this person targeted a player from the Ugandan national team. Associate nations, as compared to the big teams, are soft targets for corruption. But in this case, the player who was approached did the needful by informing the ICC at the earliest.
