Mayank Dagar: The Sunrisers Hyderabad have acquired Mayank Dagar, an uncapped domestic player from India, for INR 1.8 Crore during the current IPL 2023 mini-auction. In an effort to add another all-rounder to their lineup for the upcoming season, the Orange Army made the decision to break the bank somewhat in order to take the Himachal cricketer.
At his starting bid of INR 20 lakh, Mayank entered this auction. As soon as his name was revealed, SRH and the Rajasthan Royals engaged in a fierce bidding battle to sign the young player. Before the 2016 victors successfully closed the sale, the bidding became competitive as the price tag passed the INR 1 crore threshold.
Mayank Dagar is Virendra Sehwag’s nephew
Virender Sehwag, a former explosive opener for India, is distantly related to Mayank Dagar. The bowling all-rounder gained notoriety at the 2016 ICC U19 World Cup in Bangladesh, as the team lead by Ishan Kishan advanced to the finals before losing to the West Indies in a thrilling match.
Later that year, in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy season, Dagar went on to make his first-class debut for HP. The 26-year-old was signed by Punjab during the IPL 2018 mega auction despite having little prior IPL experience. In that season, the young cricketer was not given the opportunity to play for the Ravichandran Ashwin-led team in even a single game. Unexpectedly, he vanished for the following four seasons before making a significant reappearance this time.
Mayank Dagar beat Virat Kohli’s yo-yo score
Even though Mayank Dagar hasn’t yet been given an India cap, he has already shown that he’s maybe the most fit Indian player available.
In fact, Virat Kohli, the world’s best batsman, was edged out by Dagar for the yo-yo test score in 2018. Mayank received a 19.3 in the yo-yo exam, while Kohli received a 19. Additionally, he overcame Manish Pandey, an experienced middle-order hitter, who had a superb score of 19.2.
