The Indian skipper even went two steps ahead and gave a detailed view of the squad selection and the thought process behind it. According to that one of the major thought processes behind this squad was flexibility.
According to the skipper, they needed players that can bowl and bat whenever necessary. And during the explanation, we got a gem that left all the interviewers in splits and gave a good laugh to everyone watching.
Sharma And Kohli To Bowl In Asia Cup 2023
The Indian Skipper stated the fact that the Indian team for ODI World Cup 2011 was a flexible one. Every batsman had the capability of batting everywhere and they could bowl as well when needed.
He further stated that you can’t create a player that can bowl and bat overnight. The Blues will use every resource they have at their disposal in Asia Cup 2023 but the batsmen are in the team because they have scored runs.
The hilarious moment came at the end of the explanation when Sharma stated that “Hopefully Sharma and Virat Kohli can roll some arm over in the World Cup.” The answer left everyone in the conference laughing. Even Agarkar got a jab and said “We have convinced them to bowl.”
Flexibility and Balance
Rohit Sharma further clarified that the team needs flexibility but with balance. “You won’t ask the opener to bat down at 7th position. Flexibility means a few changes as per the conditions. It does not mean ‘Tabhai Machao.’ Another hilarious moment that left the interviewers laughing.
