MI vs GT IPL 2023: On Friday at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma achieved a significant milestone by hitting his 200th six for the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans. Rohit displayed his power by striking medium-pacer Mohit Sharma for a maximum over deep square leg, thereby reaching the remarkable feat. Prior to that, he had also hit two fours in the same over. The visitors, GT, won the toss and chose to field first.
Rohit Sharma’s glorious record in IPL
After spending the first three seasons at Deccan Chargers, the 36-year-old Rohit Sharma made his debut for Mumbai Indians in 2011. With a total of 252 sixes in the IPL, Rohit ranks as the second most prolific six-hitter in the tournament, with Chris Gayle leading the pack with 357 sixes. In today’s match against Titas, he took on Mohit Sharma and slammed two boundaries along with this solitary six.
Heading into the match, the skipper had been struggling with his form, enduring a difficult run with five single-digit scores in his last five innings in the tournament. In the past five matches, Rohit managed only 12 runs, including two ducks. However, today against the Titans, he ended his streak of single-digit scores with a noteworthy knock of 29 runs off 18 balls. Unfortunately, he was dismissed by Rashid Khan just on the first ball after the powerplay by Rashid Khan.
