Along with Matthews, Sciver Brunt smashed 55* off 29 balls, hitting 9 boundaries and a six. Opener Yastika Bhatia scored 23 off 19 balls, hitting four boundaries. However, she was dismissed in the fifth over by Preeti Bose. None other RCB bowler could pick any wicket, resulting in an easy victory of Mumbai Indians.
Contrary to MI’s batting, RCB had a very difficult batting experience. They started well by scoring 39 runs in the first 4.1 overs with no loss. However, a batting collapse from thereon put them on the back foot.
RCB’s lower order’s resistance
Hayley Matthews picked up a three-wicked haul earlier. RCB lost the wickets of skipper Smriti Mandhana (23 off 17), Sophie Devine (16 off 11), Disha Kasat (0 off 2), Heather Knight (0 off 1) within the gap of 4 runs. Later, Ellyse Perry was involved in a mixup and she was eventually runout by Humaira’s direct throw. Perry scored 13 off 7 balls.
