MI vs RR IPL 2023: In the 42nd match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians has defeated Rajasthan Royals by a margin of six wickets. Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first in the thrilling clash that took place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Yashasvi Jaiswal showed a brutal display of cricket and etched a brilliant century of 124 runs in 62 balls, taking his team to a high total of 212/7 in 20 overs. In response, MI pulled off a blistering chase and chased down the target with three balls to spare. 17 runs were required in the last over and Tim David slammed three back-to-back sixes while playing a knock of 45* runs in 14 balls. This is the highest successful run chase in Wankhede in IPL.

MI players rise up to the occasion
Coming to chase a mammoth target of 213, Mumbai Indians did not have a great time in the start as they lost their Birthday boy and skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed cheaply (3 off 5). Ishan Kishan scored 28 while Cameron Green played a valuable knock of 44 runs in 26 balls, hitting four boundaries and two maximums.
Suryakumar Yadav, once again showed that he is back in the form by blasting 55 runs in 29 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and two sixes. He started his innings with a six and hit 22 runs in Kuldeep Sen’s over. However, he couldn’t stay till the end. Tim David played a blistering knock of 45* in 14 balls, hitting two boundaries and five maximums and took his team to victory. Tilak Verma also hit 29 off 21 balls in the end. Ashwin grabbed a couple of wickets while Boult & Sandeep picked a wicket each as well.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brutal century
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. Opener batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal created history as he scored his maiden ton in the tournament. He played a valiant knock of 124 runs in 62 balls, hitting 16 boundaries and two sixes. No other batter could play a significant role in the inning. Jos Buttler scored 18, skipper Sanju Samson scored 14.
Padikkal scored 2, Holder scored 11, while Hetmyer and Ashwin scored 8 each. Thus, no other batter even went past the score of 20 while Jaiswal alone launched a batting onslaught on MI bowlers. Eventually, they managed to score 212/7 in 20 overs. Arshad Khan picked a three-wicket haul while Chawla grabbed a couple of wickets. Archer & Meredith grabbed a wicket each.
