Mitchell Starc is one of the deadliest bowlers in world cricket. On Sunday, during the IPL 2024 final he proved once again why he is considered such a big game player. He was phenomenal in the final as he rattled down the top order of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He got Abhishek Sharma for a duck and took three wickets. Starc was awarded the Man of the Match award as KKR secured their third title in one of the most one-sided IPL finals ever.
But an announcement by him after the match has taken over the internet which also predicts Starc’s upcoming future. It looks like the left-arm pacer is ready to hang his boots in at least one format of the game.
Need A Break
In the post-match interview, Strac stated that he has always given international cricket a priority over franchise cricket. But in these last years of his career, he wants to experience franchise cricket even more.
He stated “Last 9 years I have prioritized Australian cricket and IPL has been my time off and give my body a break and spend some time with my wife also. That’s certainly been what the outlook has been for the last 9 years.
I am closer to the end of my career than the start, so, one format may drop off. It is a long time away, the next ODI World Cup and whether that format continues for me or not, it may open doors for more franchise cricket. So, I have thoroughly enjoyed this season, it leads into the World Cup, so that’s the other side of it, the benefit of being here. It is an amazing tournament with amazing players and the success has been fantastic.”
Mitchell Starc In Next IPL
Mitchell Starc also stated that he will play in the IPL next year as he has enjoyed his last 2 months in India. He will also target that purple cap next season and with Starc being this motivated, it will be tough for the batsmen.
“Next year, I don’t know the schedule exactly, but as I said, I enjoyed it and I look forward to being back next hopefully it is purple and gold next year once again.”
