Mohammad Shami In Final Stage Of Rehab; Will Be Back In Home Test; Read Here

Mohammad Shami

Mohammad Shami has made remarkable development in his recovery in the past few days and might return sooner than expected.

Mohammad Shami has been one of the best bowlers for the Indian team in the past decade. The team has surely been missing him dearly in his absence after his godly ODI World Cup 2023 run.

Shami took 24 wickets in just 7 matches in the tournament and was the top wicket-taker while playing four matches less than everyone. It was a tournament for the ages and something that might not be repeated.

Since the World Cup, Shami has been sidelined from the Indian team due to an ankle injury. He also missed the IPL season entirely and the T20i World Cup. A few days earlier both Ajit Agarkar and Shami stated that they couldn’t pin a date on his return. But it looks like things have changed.

Final Stages

According to the sources, the ace Indian pacer has been making significant development in his recovery. The injury was seen as a minor one in the initial stages, but it worsened throughout the period, and surgery was needed.

After a successful surgery, Shami has been part of a recovery process involving extensive rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Sources have stated that he is in the final part of his rehab.

Shami resumed bowling last month and was being monitored constantly by the selectors. Everyone thinks that the pacer will be an important part of India’s home season starting next month.

Mohammad Shami In Test!

The sources are claiming that both selectors and the pacer are looking at the test series against Bangladesh as a possible return. The two test match series will be played in India and will be the perfect time for him to return before a exhaustive period.

According to the same reports, the selectors are also considering whether Shami should play in the Duleep Trophy, which is scheduled to start on September 5 in Anantapur, to prove his match fitness.
