MotoGP Event 2023: The second half of the MotoGP 2023 is starting really soon with CatalanGP right around the corner. The bike racing event in Barcelona consists of ten races in 13 weeks.
CatalanGP will mark the 11th round of the season with the riders battling it out on Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. A very special track for both MotoGP and the team of Repsol Honda. Honda team has a special connection to this round as it will be a home round for both its riders.
Marc Marquez has been under a lot of scrutiny over the past few weeks regarding his obligations. This is the right time to shut down all the critics by recreating the win of 2019 at this track. Barcelona is also the home round for Repsol Honda’s second rider Joan Mir.
Honda’s Dominance In Spain
Honda has won 23 wins across all classes in Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya while they have won 10 in just the premier classes. Their last victory came in 2019 which was led by none other than Marc Marquez.
While Joan Mir might be ranked 36th in the world, the Barcelona track has seen his most promising results. He has been consistent in Barcelona as he has finished three times under the top 5 and his worst finish is 6th on this track.
Both these riders and Repsol Honda will try to take advantage of the familiarity of the track and will try to gain momentum. As the season is coming to a close, it will be essential for both of them to finish higher.
Italy The Next Target
The riders will travel to Italy for the San Marino Grand Prix right after the Spain round which will be the penultimate round of the MotoGP Event 2023 season.
