MotoGP Event 2023: Johann Zarco came out and spoke for the first time since penning down a two-year deal with Honda. He talked about his situation with Ducati, and his expectations from Honda and also praised Marc Marquez in the process.
It is possible that Zarco won’t be the advanced tester for Ducati in the upcoming races due to confidentiality issues, but the rider is far from worried. He was excited and relieved about the situation and thanked his experience for that.
He also put an end to all the reports and illusions that were out regarding why he left Ducati. Zarco talked about his future and how he feels about LCR and MotoGP Event 2023 going forward from here.
No Certainty Of Pramac
According to Zarco, Ducati gave him a chance to race for them for another year, but it wouldn’t have been with Pramac. According to him, the French Rider had to move to the Gresini team.
Zarco further stated that he did not want another team even if it was Ducati. He further stated that at the age of 33, getting only a year-long contract can be tiring. Because he used to worry about his future after every 5-6 races.
So, when Honda offered a 2-year contract, it was a no-brainer for him. According to Zarco, if he had to change teams, It would be better with another project and 2 years in the store.
I Enjoy Riding a Honda
The 33-year-old further stated that Honda has the power to invest and find solutions to make better bikes. He would be happy to help and further added that if the bike improves, Marc will be the biggest contender to win.
He reflected on his time with LCR in 2019 and how he felt good. And because he spent 2019 with Honda, he is not afraid and is much more ready than in the past.
