MS Dhoni: The Mumbai Cricket Association has planned to create a memorial in honour of MS Dhoni’s famous six that he hit during the ICC 2011 World Cup final, which helped India win the tournament. They will also honour MSD during the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings IPL match on April 8.
What did the MCA say
“We will install a memorial at the very place where the six had landed in the stands,” said Amol Kale, who is the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association. He confirmed this during a meeting of the Apex Council held in Mumbai on Monday. Interestingly, this meeting took place on April 3, 2023, just a day after the 12th anniversary of the World Cup final match between India and Sri Lanka, which happened on April 2, 2011.”
MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik said, “It would be a fitting tribute to MS Dhoni’s match-winning innings and we hope it will inspire many youngsters to follow the footsteps of Captain Cool in cricket.” During the cricket match, MS Dhoni hit a six at the Vithal Divecha Pavilion by smashing the ball bowled by Nuwan Kulasekara of Sri Lanka.
Kale continued further by saying, “It is difficult to identify exactly on which seat the ball had landed. We have identified three-four seats and we will install the memorial at that very spot.”

It’s important to mention that a proposal for a similar idea was presented by a member of the MCA Apex Council in 2020, but it was not approved by the Council at that time.
