Neeraj Chopra: The ‘Golden Boy of India‘ has been joined by the Steeplechaser Avinash Sable to compete in the Diamond League Final 2024. Neeraj Chopra and Avinash will compete in the season finale in Brussels, Belgium on 13th and 14th September. The athletes have marked their way to the finals by competing in various events. Two-times Olympic medallist secured his place by finishing fourth overall whereas Avinash Sable finished at the 14th spot.
Neeraj Chopra Eyeing Third Diamond League Medal
Tokyo 2020 Olympics Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra will be in action on 14th September for the season finale. Star Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra has never stood on the third spot, he has either won gold or silver. Similarly, in the Diamond Leagues, he has earned a Gold and a Silver Medal. In the 2022, Zurich Diamond League, Neeraj clinched the top spot with a massive throw of 88.44m. Next year, in the 2023 Eugene Diamond League, Chopra couldn’t win a back-to-back gold but he delivered a classy performance and won silver. This will mark the third time Indian athlete competing the final.
Despite having an injury, Neeraj Chopra is constantly on the rise and trying to better his performance. However, his groin injury is causing problems to reach the top spot. Apart from winning the Diamond League medal, Neeraj Chopra has another goal in his mind and that is the 90m mark. Neeraj is the only player in his circuit who has not touched the 90m mark in his career and he is trying to reach there. Hopefully, the fans will witness, the Paris Olympics 2024 silver medalist Neeraj Chopra cross 90m this time in the Diamond League final.
Avinash Sable’s Entry to Finals
Avinash Sable is an Indian Steeplechaser, he will participate in the 3000m Steeplechase event on 13th September. The Asian Games gold medallist earned this opportunity by competing in the Silesia Diamond League 2024 in Poland. Avinash Sable finished 14th overall with 3 points in the final standings. The athlete has become the first Indian to represent the nation in the 3000m Steeplechase at the Olympics. In Paris 2024, he finished 11th with a time of 8:14:18.
