The third and the final match of the ODI series between India and New Zealand saw a no result after rain played a spoilsport in the second innings of the game.

Batting first India put 219 runs on board as they were bowled out with 15 balls remaining. Washington Sundar top-scored for ‘Men in Blue’ with his splendid 51-run knock while Shreyas Iyer scored 49. All other batters looked off the final game.

Later chasing the target, New Zealand started well and put a superb 100-run partnership. Finn Allen and Devon Conway played some blistering knocks before Umran Malik broke the partnership.

After 18th over, rain came into the play and never stopped. As D/L rules are applicable only after 20 overs of the innings in ODIs, the match saw no winner.

“When we have been playing cricket we have been applying ourselves. Some good stuff in the rained off games too. We knew that 20 overs would constitute a match, but we could see the weather coming, it has been following us,” said New Zealand captain Kane Williamson post match.

The Blackcaps took the three-match ODI series 1-0.
