Champions Trophy 2025 is supposed to be Pakistan’s statement to the world that they can organize an International event. It was an important bid by Pakistan amidst the chaos in the country.
It will not only promote cricket in Pakistan but will also strengthen their claim as a cricket powerhouse. Well, it was supposed to do that, but according to the latest statement by the PCB Chairman, we are far away.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made a big statement regarding the security situation and condition of Pakistan’s stadium. And by his statements, things are looking grim and not so hopeful.
‘No International Stadium’
Mohsin Naqvi was blunt about the situation of stadiums in Pakistan and how they lack international quality. He further claimed that the seats, the bathroom, and the view, everything is bad.
He stated “None of our stadiums are of international standards. There is a big difference between international stadiums and those of other countries. There weren’t enough seats or bathrooms and the view was like you were watching from 500 meters away.”
But Naqvi was hopeful that by 2025 the stadiums would be renovated. He stated “The Frontier Works Organization (FWO) will make sure that all the stadiums in Pakistan become world-class. We will provide basic facilities in stadiums. The Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan, and the final will be conducted in Lahore.”
Champions Trophy 2025: Security Concerns
Naqvi also addressed the security concerns raised by BCCI previously. He stated that preparations would be made but there is a chance that certain matches might shift to a different location.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is already under scrutiny because of violence in Bangladesh and might be shifted to a different nation. So, if Pakistan fails to host the Champions Trophy 2025, it will be a huge setback for the sub-continent nations.
