NZ vs AFG: The match between New Zealand and Afghanistan (NZ vs AFG) in the T20 World Cup has been canceled due to rain. The match was to be played at the MCG Ground but due to incessant rain in Melbourne, the match had to be called off without a ball being played. Owing to the cancellation of the match, both the teams have been awarded with one point each.
In the opening match of the Super-12 round, New Zealand beat Australia by 89 runs Devon Conway played an unbeaten 92 off 58 balls. New Zealand scored 201 for 3 in 20 overs at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Australia were bowled out for 111 in 17.1 overs. Mitchell Santner took 3 wickets for 31 runs and Tim Southee took 3 wickets for 6 runs. Significantly, this is Australia’s biggest defeat in the T20 World Cup in terms of runs. New Zealand have won a match on Australian soil for the first time since 2011 on that day.
