NZ vs AUS: On Saturday, against Australia, the New Zealand cricket team shattered the previous mark for the most runs scored in the opening over in T20 World Cup history against Kangaroos. In the opening over of their current T20 World Cup contest against Australia, the Kiwis scored 14 runs against Mitchell Starc’s bowling.
Finn Allen, the leadoff hitter for New Zealand, who is also playing his first world cup, scored the runs in the over by hitting two boundaries and a maximum. This is the most runs that Australia has ever given up in the opening over of a T20 World Cup game. Watch the video:

Dirk Nannes, a former Australian bowler, had held the record for Australia’s first over score in a T20 World Cup game until Starc’s 14 runs on Saturday. In the first over of a 2010 T20 World Cup contest against the West Indies, Nannes gave up 12 runs.
Prior to Nannes, Brett Lee held the record for Australia in a T20 World Cup match for most runs allowed in the first over. In the 2009 T20 World Cup match against West Indies, Lee had given up 10 runs.As far as match is concerned, Kiwis won it by 89 runs, making it their first ever victory against Australia in Australia since 2011.
