NZ VS PAK ICC ODI World Cup 2023: In a rain hit match, the storm of Fakhar Zaman made the loudest noice. New Zealand bowlers were seeing nothing except the boundary line as the Pakistan opener was brutalising them.

When a team is chasing a target of 402 runs, they need someone to pull the trigger at all times. Someone to strike the ball hard constantly. Someone who can find the boundaries at regular intervals so that the run rate can be maintained.

That is what Fakhar Zaman did. While Abdullah Shafique got out early courtesy of a sensational catch by Kane Williamson and Babar Azam played steadily. A record breaking century by Fakhar is keeping Pakistan hopes alive.

Record Breaking Century

It took Zaman just 62 deliveries to reach his century. This is the fastest World Cup century by a Pakistani batsman as he broke a decade old record. Zaman created another record during his innings, one that he might not even know of.

The left handed opener has hit 9 sixes in his innings so far and that is the most by any Pakistan batsman in one innings of a World Cup. Fakhar has been in sensational form so far and is breezing towards a very big score.

Babar Azam is playing steadily on the other side as he is on 47 runs in 51 deliveries. He might be playing slow, but considering how Fakhar is playing at the moment, the skipper does not need to take any kind of risk.

NZ VS PAK ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Rain Hit Match

The action was going intensely when rain decided to interrupt the game. The match had to be stopped because of the rain and at the moment Pakistan are 10 runs ahead of the DLS target. Which means that if the match is stopped here, Pakistan will win the match.

But we don’t have to worry about that as the rain is really light and we have 55 minutes before the overs starts reducing. On the other hand, the outfield of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium dries up very quickly as well.
