Virat Kohli: When a career is this good as Kohli’s, everyone starts to wonder about retirement plans. Well, The King of the Indian cricket team has himself come out and spilled beans on his retirement plans and what he will do after cricket.
Kohli is 35 now, but his intensity and fitness can rival any youngster on the pitch. But even he knows that can’t go on forever. And when you have been playing cricket your entire life at such a big stage, you are bound to get tired.
You need a rest at the end of it. Rest from all the noise, all the criticism, all the intensive training sessions, and all the pressure. And when you are Virat Kohli, you need that more than anyone. After all, you have been carrying the hopes of the whole nation on your back for more than a decade.
Won’t See Virat Kohli Anymore?
At the RCB Gala dinner, Kohli stated “I think as a sportsman, we do have an end-date to our careers. So I am just working backward. I don’t want to finish my career thinking ‘Oh, what if I had done this on that particular day’ because I can’t keep going on and on forever. So it’s just about not leaving any undone business behind and not having any regrets later, which I am sure I won’t.”
He further talked about his retirement plan and stated “Once I am done, I will be gone, you won’t see me for a while (smiles). So I want to give it everything I have till the time I play, and that’s the only thing that keeps me going.”
Do-Or-Die Match
Talking about the near future, Virat Kohli has to play a do-or-die match against CSK in IPL 2024. A win by 18 runs can book RCB’s place in the playoffs and a loss can knock them out of the tournament.
