PAK vs NZ: In their two-match Test series against New Zealand, Sarfaraz Ahmed was Pakistan’s standout performer. Due to his crucial runs made for his team in the most trying circumstances, the comeback lad was named “Player of the Series.”
Sarfaraz Ahmed played match-saving knock
The hosts would have easily lost one of the two Test matches against a determined New Zealand team rather than holding them at bay with a score of 0-0 if it weren’t for Sarfaraz, who took over for Pakistan’s initial first-choice glover Mohammad Rizwan after spending nearly four years on the sideline.
The former Pakistani captain ended the series as its top run-getter with 335 runs scored over four innings at an average of 83.75. Two strikes stood out in particular. When Pakistan was vulnerable at 110/4 in the first Test, Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 86 in the first innings.
The batsman improved on that accomplishment by scoring a game-saving 118 off 176 on the final day of the second Test in Karachi, sparing Pakistan from a devastating series defeat and the embarrassment of dropping three straight Test series at home.
Sarfaraz Ahmed spotted gazing at wife during PAK vs NZ
A humorous incident occurred at the National Stadium during this inning. Sarfaraz Ahmed was staring in the exact other corner of the playing area when Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell, who was on to bowl, paused mid-motion.
Standing outside the pitch at on-side, Sarfaraz Ahmed was staring at the enormous screen set up at the stadium and eventually turned around after umpire Aleem Dar spoke with him briefly, while Mitchell paused on his way to bowl the ball to Sarfaraz’s batting partner Saud Shakeel.
At first, it wasn’t clear what the batter was staring at. Sarfaraz Ahmed was, in fact, gazing at his wife from a distance in the middle of the ground, as it turned out.
Sarfaraz was seen gazing affectionately at his wife when the cameras focused on her, temporarily losing concentration on the action at hand as he did so. When the New Zealand fielders and umpire Dar urged him to switch his focus and attention to the action, even he had a goofy look on his face.
