PAK vs NZ: In Karachi, the Test for the comeback player Sarfaraz Ahmed is giving mixed results. In the first innings of the Test match, the former Pakistan captain scored a crucial 86, but he has a history of making mistakes behind the stumps.
A slow-moving Test match had one such mistake made by Sarfaraz early on Day 4. The ball from left-arm spinner Nauman Ali turned sharply and struck the back of the helmet, resulting in a five-run penalty for his team. He missed the ball from catching which then funnily hit his helmet kept at the back and went for boundary.
Sarfaraz Ahmed misses it again during PAK vs NZ test
Standing umpire Aleem Dar gave New Zealand five extra runs despite the fact that their captain and star batter Kane Williamson had not even attempted to play the ball, since that was a violation of the rules of the game that resulted in a penalty to the bowling side.
Williamson simply placed his front pad in front of the ball while handling the line outside of the leg-stump. The ball, however, took a spin and skidded through the rough off the ground, evading Sarfaraz Ahmed’s gloves to strike his helmet in the back before rolling towards the boundary.

Of all, this was not the first time in the first Test that Sarfaraz Ahmed had failed to seize the opportunity to strike. On Day 3 of the match, the wicketkeeper made a mistake by failing to take out centurion Williamson’s stumping opportunity. Additionally, he missed a thick edge of tailender Ish Sodhi, which could have been caught but he blew the chance.
Sarfaraz Ahmed made comeback after four years
If you recall, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s keeping was one of the aspects of his game that received a lot of criticism prior to his removal from the captaincy and subsequent dismissal from the starting lineup in October 2019.
Mohammad Rizwan had taken over for the veteran cricketer during the tour of Australia at that point, and over the following four years, he proved to be an improvement over him with the bat and the gloves.
