Pakistan Chief Likely To Send Psychologist With The Team For ODI World Cup 2023; Find Out More

ODI World Cup 2023

Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Zaka Ashraf wants to send a psychologist with the team for ODI World Cup 2023. Find out the reason.

ODI World Cup 2023: With the World Cup 2023 coming close, every team is doing whatever they can to ensure their team has the perfect outing in the tournament. And Pakistan chief is also making sure of that.

According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board is mulling over sending a psychologist with the team for the tournament as it would help the players deal with the pressure in their neighboring country.

And this is not a unique approach, as many teams do the same thing. Paddy Upton acted as a mental conditioning coach of Team India during the World Cup 2011 and was one of the reasons behind the stage that India won the Cup.

ODI World Cup 2023: Zaka Ashraf Wants A Psychologist

Pakistan Cricket Board’s newly appointed chief, Zaka Ashraf, believes in sending a team with a psychologist. A PCB official has told PTI that Ashraf thinks having a psychologist will help the team outside the country.

“When Zaka Ashraf was the chairman of the PCB, he had got a well-known psychologist Maqbool Babri to work with the players, and he also went with them to India in 2012/13.” The source quoted.

The board will finalize the decision once Ashraf meets with Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Babar is currently in Sri Lanka, playing in the Lanka Premier League. Once he returns, they will decide whether to send a psychologist for ODI World Cup 2023.

India Triumph In 2011

Paddy Upton’s work with the Indian team as mental conditioning coach definitely helped the team in the tournament, as he used to have late-night meetings with the team to help them handle the pressure of playing on home soil.

Maybe, India will also need something like that again. Indian fans are desperate to see their team win; this time, the support will be enormous.
