After BCCI secretary confirmed that India will not travel to Pakistan for next year’s Asia Cup and said there should be a neutral venue for the tournament, Pakistan is deliberating on pulling out of the 2023 ODI World Cup, set to take place in India next year.
“Neutral venue for the Asia Cup is not unprecedented and we have decided that we will not travel to Pakistan,” Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
“I have decided that we will play at a neutral venue,” he added.
Shah’s comment ruffled some feathers in PCB and they have now started posing various actions of BCCI will not send a team to Pakistan.
A report said, PCB’s think tank had a meeting in Lahore in which matters including Asia Cup participation and India’s denial were discussed.
“The PCB, would be declaring the ACC President and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah’s decision on the tour unnecessary and hasty, further noting that Shah cannot take a unilateral decision by himself” the report stated.
There are also reports that claim the PCB will permanently pull out of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after India’s decision.
India’s last tour to Pakistan was in the 2008 Asia Cup. Post that series, Pakistan engaged in multiple terror activities across the world including the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. The Sri Lankan team were also attacked by terrorist in Pakistan in 2009.
After all these heinous crimes, teams stopped touring Pakistan.
