ICC World Cup 2023: The Pakistan national cricket team is considering a boycott of sponsor logos during the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup in 2023 due to payment delays. Allegedly, the players are dissatisfied with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s failure to provide timely payments, and as the World Cup draws near, they have opted not to display logos on their jerseys.

According to Cricket Pakistan’s report, the Pakistan national cricket team has not received payment for their matches in the past four months, a situation that has caused significant discontent among the players. The report also cited a player who stated, “We are willing to represent Pakistan for free, but our question is why we should promote sponsors’ logos that are affiliated with the board.”
Continuing further, the player said, “Similarly, we may decline to participate in promotional activities and other events. During the World Cup, we won’t engage in ICC’s commercial promotions and activities either.” Additionally, the prolonged delays in payments from the cricket board have placed financial strains on younger players
PCB revenue expected to be 9.8 Billion
The report additionally mentioned that the players have requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to disclose the portion of revenue expected from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and sponsors. This revenue is estimated at approximately PKR 9.8 billion, excluding the income generated from sponsors and bilateral series.
