Paris Olympics 2024: Olympic silver medalist Bajrang Punia gave major updates regarding Vinesh Phogat and her return back to India. Earlier it was reported that Vinesh had not travelled back to the country with the contingent.

It was because she was waiting for the judgment by CAS. Vinesh herself stated that she would only return to India once the case was finished and CAS announced its official decision.

On Wednesday, at 7:00 PM IST, CAS announced that the appeal by Vinesh had been rejected. It was a heartbreaking decision but CAS maintained the precedent set by IOA and denied the Indian wrestler her silver medal.

Paris Olympics 2024: Heartbreaking Result

Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 50 kg women’s freestyle wrestling event as she was 100 grams over the weight limit on the second day of the event.

Before that, the Indian athlete had defeated everyone and reached the finals. Vinesh demanded a silver medal for herself and appealed to CAS. However, after several delays, CAS ruled in favor of the IOC.
