Paris Olympics 2024: Dhiraj Bommadevara was not going to let destiny play a spoilsport in his Olympics medal quest again. He made sure that the Quarterfinals against Spain did not go to a tie-breaker again.
It was Bullseye after Bullseye by Dhiraj that allowed him and Ankita to register a sensational win against the Spanis duo. Now that they have qualified for the finals, one more win will guarantee them a podium finish.
Dhiraj was knocked out in the Men’s single Archery event by just 2.4 cm. He was heartbroken but did not let that disappointment affect his performance in the mixed event.
History Makers!
Dhiraj & Ankita created history by becoming the first archers from India to enter the Semis of the Olympics. They are now just one win away from securing a medal for themselves and their country.
Both these archers were in top form and were hitting as close to the ‘X’ as they could. Only two shots scored less than 9 points for the Indian duo as they defeated Spain in a dominating fashion with a scoreline of 5-3.
The first round was clinched by the Indian duo with a 38-37 scoreline while the second round was tied with 38-38. The Spanish duo clinched the third round with 36-37 and it all came down to the last round where Ankita and Dhiraj kept their calm and won the round by 37-36.
Paris Olympics 2024: Semi Final Timings
The Indian duo will now face off against either Korea or Italy at 7:00 PM. If they win the match, they will secure at least a silver medal for themselves. It will be a perfect resurrection story for Dhiraj after his heartbroken exit in Single’s event.
