The Court Of Arbitration Of Sports have extended the verdict on Vinesh Phogat Paris Olympics 2024 case by 24 hours.

Paris Olympics 2024: The Vinesh Phogat saga is not concluding and it looks like the whole nation and Vinesh herself will have to wait for a few more days before a verdict is decided.

Vinesh was suspended from the 50kg freestyle wrestling event after she was found 100 grams over the weight limit on the day of the final. Vinesh, alongside WFI, has filed an appeal which was accepted by the CAS.

There was a three-hour-long hearing in the ad-hoc division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on Friday and a decision is supposed to be arriving by 9:30 PM IST on Saturday. And everyone is desperately waiting for the decision.

Two Silver Medals?

If the decision rules in the favour of the Indian wrestler then both Vinesh and Yusneylys Guzmán Lopez would be awarded silver medals. But according to IOC, this is an unlikely prospect.

IOC President, Thomas Bach stated that there can not be two silver medals in one category. He further added that the regulations of the federation must be followed but the federation will respect CAS’s decision.

After hearing the appeals from both sides, CAS stated that they would give their verdict on 10 August 2024 at 9:30 PM IST. But various sources are stating that things have changed now.

Paris Olympics 2024: More Wait

According to a statement released by the Indian Olympic Association, the ad hoc division of CAS has extended the time of the verdict. Sources have claimed that the decision will now be taken on August 11, 2024, Sunday at 7:30 pm IST.
