Harmanpreet Singh was the hero of the Indian team in the Paris Olympics 2024 for the Indian team. Whenever the Indian team needed him, he went ahead and scored to get them out of trouble.
Whether it be the last-minute winner against New Zealand, the last-minute leveler against Argentina, the brace against mighty Australia, or now, the brace in the bronze medal match.
It was the Harmanpreet show who has gotten the nickname of ‘Sarpanch Sahab’ by the fans. And he made sure to live up to the expectations of his name every single time. He never disappointed the fans and was world-class throughout the tournament.
Rocket Goal
The Indian team was put behind by Spain in the first quarter and was in dire need of an equalizer. And that is when Harmanpreet stepped up once again and scored a rocket goal that left the goalkeeper completely stunned.
He found a minute gap in the defense and launched a perfectly placed shot. He was not done as he put India in the lead less than a minute after the equaliser. Once again, courtesy of a penalty corner.
The goalkeeper once again tried to go down but failed to stop the ball as India took the lead. This was Harman’s 10th goal in the tournament and was in a prominent position in the top scorer list.
Paris Olympics 2024: Perfect Farewell
It was also the perfect way to end a career like PR Sreejesh who has been a hero to Indian hockey for many years now. He saved 5 out of a total of 6 shots on target to keep India in the lead.
He was once again like a wall that the Spanish attack could not breach no matter how hard they tried. It was a perfect end to such a glorious career and this feat might not be repeatable.
