He got his near-perfect farewell at the Paris Olympics 2024 when he successfully defended his bronze medal with the hockey team. It was a perfect farewell to the player who has saved our team so many times in the past.
The Indian Olympic Association decided to honor Sreejesh by asking him to be the flag bearer of the Indian contingent at the closing ceremony. Manu Bhaker has already been decided as the women’s flag bearer.
But what swept away the fan’s heart was the gesture by Neeraj Chopra who gave his nod to Sreejesh to be the flag bearer. This incident shared by PT Usha will not only melt you but will also show you the Camaraderie between the Indian contingent.
The Heartmelting Camaraderie
PT Usha revealed that Neeraj was supposed to be the flag bearer after his silver medal in Javelin. However, the Indian javelin star showcased his heart of gold when he suggested that Sreejesh should do the honors.
PT Usha stated, “I spoke to Neeraj Chopra, grace with which he agreed that Sreejesh should be the flag bearer at the closing ceremony – he told ‘Mam, even if you had not asked me, I would have suggested Sree bhai’s name’ – it showed the immense respect Neeraj has for Sree & his contribution”.
She further added that Sreejesh has served Indian hockey in particular and Indian sport in general admirably through more than two decades.
Paris Olympics 2024: A New Role
After his stint with the Indian hockey team, the Indian goalkeeper might be looking at a new role. He is being considered as the new Junior Indian team coach and he is the perfect guy for that role.
The fans are happy with this decision and almost everyone agrees on this decision and has given a nod.
