Paris Olympics 2024

Sarabjot Singh looked back on his crucial mistake that cost him the qualification spot by the barest of the margins.

The first day Paris Olympics 2024 has been a series of heartbreak for the Indian contingent. The first three events that the Indian contingent participated in brought nothing else other than disappointment for the athletes.

It was like the ‘luck factor’ was mocking us continuously as the Indian athletes missed out on final qualification by the barest of the margins. It was the same situation in all three events.

The mixed team of Ramita and Babuta missed out on 10m Air rifle mixed team qualifications by 1 point which was followed by a 4th position finish in Men’s single skull heat Rowing where the top three qualified directly for the finals.

The trifecta of heartbreak was completed when Sarabjot Singh missed out on the 10m air pistol men’s qualification by just 1 inner point. It was a heart-shattering result as Sarabjot was not able to contain his emotions after the event.

‘I Looked Back’

Sarabjot was on fire when he scored 100/100 in the fourth series and the qualification looked assured. But every hope came crashing down after an underwhelming fifth series as the Indian athlete finished on 9th.

The Indian athlete refused to speak to the media after the loss as he was too emotional to say something. But in the briefest of the interactions, he told everyone that his focus was broken when he looked back after the fourth series.

We don’t know where Sarabjot was looking but this mistake might have cost him the qualification spot.

More To Come In Paris Olympics 2024

Sarabjot might have been disappointed but he let everyone know that he is not hopeless. It is Sarabjot’s first Olympic event and he wants to make the most of it. That is why he is looking forward to the team event that he will later participate in.
