Paris Olympics 2024: After upsetting big names after big names, Lakshya Sen was finally outclassed in the Semi-Finals of the Badminton event. But even while losing, he was unreal and made the whole country proud.
Sen was facing Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen in the Semi-Finals. Axelsen is ranked number 2 in the world and has not lost a single match since his Bronze medal match at the 2016 Olympics.
It was a mountain to climb and Lakshya came so close to putting his flag on top of this peak. But in the end, it was not enough. Lakshya will now face Lee Zii Jia in the Bronze Medal match on August 5 at 6:00 PM.
‘Should Have Attacked More’
In the post-match interview, Lakshya stated that he should have attacked more and should have believed in himself. He will look at this match as a learning experience and will focus on the Bronze medal match now.
He further thanked the fans for all the support and also thanked his family who are with him in Paris. Lakshya said that his parents are sending him home-cooked food and their support has helped him.
Paris Olympics 2024: Axelsen Impressed
This match is not all waste as Lakshya will learn a great deal from this match. Furthermore, it looks like he has impressed Axelsen as well who praised Lakshya after the match.
Viktor Axelsen stated “I am sure 4 years from now, Lakshya will be one of the favourites to win the Gold medal in LA 2028 Olympics. He is an incredible talent. It was my toughest match today.”
Considering how troubled Axelsen was against Lakshya in the earlier stages, it is not surprising that Axelsen thinks like that. We hope that Lakshya learns from this and comes back stronger.
