Paris Olympics 2024: Once silenced by adversity, Vinesh Phogat is now being celebrated as a champion on the court. It was an inspiring performance against every single opponent that Phogat faced today.
She had a plan against all three opponents and she executed that plan to the last minute detail. There was nothing that her opponents were able to do. No matter your ranking, your seeding, or how aggressive you are, if you are against Phogat, you will have to play according to her.
You know you were sensational when you did not let Yu Susaki score against you. Even in the semi-final, she did not let Cuban wrestler Yusneylys Guzmán score a single point against her.

Vinesh had a perfect defense against Yusneylys Guzmán. The Cuban international tried to do the single-leg takedown again and again, but Phogat had an unreal defense. Not once was Yusneylys able to break down the defense.
The match turned around in the second half when Phogat countered her opponent’s attack and took a 5-0 lead. And after that, there was nothing that Yusneylys could do to break Phogat’s defense.
She will now face Sarah Hildebrandt of the United States in the finals on August 7, Wednesday. The match will start at 11:23 PM IST and Phogat now has the golden opportunity to clinch her maiden Olympic gold.

This gameplay has left everyone stunned and every fan was in awe of her game. Even the ones who were against her a few months ago are now praising Phogat as she has made everyone proud.
This is something that should not have been achievable. After all, just 11 months ago, Phogat tore her ACL, which is a major injury. To come back from that injury and her political battle, all of us are proud of her.
