Paris Olympics 2024: A dislocated shoulder, broken wrist, and a knock to the elbow was the condition of Nisha Dahiya in the Quarterfinal match. But even with three injuries, she was like a warrior on the mat.
She completed her match with injuries so severe that would have made a normal person scream in agony. It was something that had put Nisha on the world map. Not because she had just an impressive outing, but because she was ready to fight till the end.
It was like she was ready to die on the mat and if it wasn’t for that injury Nisha would have won the match easily. After all, she had a 7-point lead in the one match before the first injury.
She Is A Warrior
Nisha was facing North Korea’s Pak Sol Gum in the quarterfinal match and was ahead by 8-1 with just 8 minutes left in the match. It was a one-sided match before Nisha got a severe injury in her wrist.
She continued the match and while defending her elbow was struck and she was in agony. Her expressions showed that she was in utter pain and the doctors had to rush to her aid.
But even after that, she continued the match but tragedy struck once again as Nisha not only lost 6 points on the trot but also injured her shoulder. It was like the destiny itself was stopping her from completing this match.
Paris Olympics 2024: Beyond Heartbreak
But the lioness of India was not letting a mere thing like destiny stop her from completing this match. She fought even after 3 major injuries. And sure, the scoreline might have been in favor of Korean wrestling, but Nisha was the winner in the eyes of everyone present inside the Colosseum.
It was beyond heartbreak what happened with Nisha. But we still have hope for a medal if Sol Gum can win her match. Nisha will then have a repechage match if she can recover. We wish her all the best and a speedy recovery and she should know that the whole nation is proud of her.
