PBKS vs GT IPL 2023: In the 18th match of the IPL, Gujarat Titans has defeated Punjab Kings by a margin of six wickets. The match took place at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Hardik Pandya had won the toss and decided to field first and his bowlers proved the decision to be right as they restricted visitors to 153/8 in 20 overs. In response, riding on Shubman Gills’ half-century, GT chased down the target with one ball to spare.
Shubman Gills’s calm fifty
Coming to chase 154, Gujarat Titans batting had a strong start, scoring 36 runs in just 3 overs without losing any wickets. Opener Wriddhiman Saha scored 30 runs off 19 balls. Sai Sudharsan scored 19 off 20 balls. Shubman Gill once again shone with the bat and scored 67 off 48 balls, hitting seven boundaries and one maximum. However, skipper Hardik Pandya scored 8 runs in 11 balls as he once again failed to make an impression with the bat.
In the end, David Miller scored 17* off 18 balls. Rahul Tewatia played an important two-ball cameo by scoring five runs, as four runs were required in two balls and he slammed a boundary, making it a victory for his teamArshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, and Harpreet Brar picked a wicket each.
PBKS batter fall flat in chase
Earlier, Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to field first in the clash. Though the match was happening at their home ground, Punjab’s batter completely faltered out. Opener Prabhsimran got out on the second consecutive duck on the second ball of the game itself. Skipper and orange cap holder Shikhar Dhawan could not also take his team forward today as he was dismissed on a score of 8 runs in 8 balls.
Matthew Short was the top-scorer with a score of 36 runs off 24 balls, with six boundaries and a maximum in his short cameo. Sam Curran scored 22 off 22 balls, making it his yet another unimpressive performance. Shah Rukh Khan played a brilliant cameo in the end scoring 22 runs in just 9 balls, smashing a boundary and two maximums. His knock took the team to a total of 153/8 in 20 overs. Shami, Little, Joseph, and Rashid Khan grabbed a wicket each while GT debutant Mohit Sharma picked a couple of wickets too.
