PBKS batter fail in big chase
Coming to chase a mammoth total, PBKS did not have an ideal start as they lost skipper Shikhar Dhawan, who was making his comeback, for just 1 run off 3 balls. Prabhsimran Singh was dismissed for a score of 9 runs in 13 balls. Atharva Taide showed resistance and scored crucial 66 runs off 36 balls. Sikandar Raza scored 36 off 22, while Liam Livingstone scored 23 off 14 balls.
Sam Curran tried hitting big shots but was eventually dismissed for a score of 21 runs in 10 balls. Jitesh Sharma played a similar knock of 24 runs off 10 balls. However, at one moment, it appeared as if LSG would go on to win by a margin of 100+ runs but PBKS batter did well in inching closer. Yash Thakur grabbed a four wicket haul while Naveen Ul Haq picked a three-wicket haul, Ravi Bishnoi picked a couple of wickets and Marcus Stoinis clinched one as well.
LSG scripts history with a mammoth score
Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and chose to bowl first in the game. However, the decision back-fired severely as the LSG carnage completely took over the stadium. They posted a mammoth score of 257/5 in 20 overs, the second-highest score by an IPL team ever. This was also only the second time a team has touched the 250-run mark.
Their start, however, wasn’t very ideal as they lost skipper KL Rahul cheaply (12 off 9). K Mayers then took on the charge and smacked 54 off 24 balls. Ayush Badoni gave him the perfect support, as he himself scored 43 off 24 balls. Stoinis further cemented the middle order with his 72 runs knock off 40 balls. Nicholas Pooran did the final firework by hitting 45 runs off 19 balls. In total, the team slammed 27 fours and 14 sixes as well. Rabada grabbed a couple of wickets while Arshdeep, Sam Curran, and Livingstone picked a wicket each.
