MS Dhoni: Former Indian opener and ODI World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir has once again passed an explosive comment on media hyping up the six scored by MS Dhoni in the World Cup 2011 finals.
Gautam Gambhir is known for speaking his mind unfiltered and always speaks what others are afraid to. Once again the left-handed opener has sparked controversy with his remarks. He once again came out and spoke about the misdirection that the media goes into while celebrating the ODI World Cup 2011 victory.
He stated that the media and fans do not give enough credit to the right players. Gambhir named all the players according to him are underrated in that triumph. He did not hold back and spoke his mind freely.
It Was Not Just One MS Dhoni Six
Gautam Gambhir held the media responsible and stated “We haven’t given enough credit to Yuvraj Singh as well. How many people talk about Zaheer Khan’s first spell in the World Cup final which set the tone for us? Five overs, four maidens. How many people remember that? So it is not about the players, it is the media, it is the social media, it is the narrative that has been created.”
He further highlighted the individual-obsessed nature of the country and how everyone forgets about the team. Gambhir was furious and annoyed in the interview he gave to RevSportz.
Not The First Time
It was not the first time that Gambhir has showcased his displease over this incident. In 2020, he quoted a Tweet by ESPN and stated the same thing. He ended that Tweet by stating that everyone should stop their obsession over a six.
